I'm getting hooked on making ice art pictures. In New York City we have bodegas which are little shops on street corners that sell groceries but also have small flower stands outside the stores. I've always managed to pick up a handful of rose petals whenever the florist is picking off the outer petals of the roses. G (my daughter) and I bought a large bag of petals on Sunday for $1.00 from one of these shops. We decided to make petal ice picture for you all to see and try out at home. I think boys would like to make creations with rose petals too. Don't hold back. Frozen petals are fascinating. Take it to a new level.
You could just use it as a centerpiece on a table for Valentine's Day and let the art melt in the pan. The petals thaw quickly and they are preserved. Or hang it outside on a tree branch or a hook near a window and watch it slowly melt away.
