We've been experimenting with the Dandelion Flower Paintbrush and a few other simple ideas that can be used for Mother's Day cards or any special occasion.
My favorite seems to be this fresh flower card.
After painting with the dandelion flower brush, fold the paper in half to make a card. Use scissors or a craft knife to make a slit through both layers of paper. Choose a favorite fresh flower that includes a stem and have the kids insert the flower stem through the card.
Butterfly Sticks can also be inserted into the slitted paper. (Paper Butterflies cut from the painted paper are very sweet and the stems from Hosta leaves and dandelion make a durable stick.) The stems also make nice dot patterns when dipped in paint.
I'll also be "playing" this week with more cards and decorative paper ideas made from everyday objects (some of which are in Crafting Fun and some which are in my new book Homemade Fun). Sometimes, I'll just be winging it but always trying to keep in mind what kids might like to make that is within their reach. Thanks so much for stopping by! It inspires me.
P.S. Here's a great dandelion chain tutorial via Crafty Crow.
